WHAT IS LOW VISION?
There are eye diseases that can not be cured by medical or surgical intervention. Macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma are just a few of these diseases. If the vision decrease affects the individual's ability to function visually, this is called low vision.
WHAT CAN BE DONE FOR A PERSON WITH LOW VISION?
When your eye doctor is unable to improve your vision with a normal spectacle correction, there are many low vision devices that may help. |
WILL THESE DEVICES WORK FOR YOU?
Just 3 Easy Steps:
1. Schedule a no-fee consultation with Dr. Thomas Hixson - This is necessary to see if low vision services are right for you.
2. Schedule a complete low vision evaluation with Dr. Hixson - It could take up to two hours of time and fees vary. MediCal insurance will cover all of the low vision fees. Medicare will cover some of the costs. It is important to check with your insurance company if you have any other type of private insurance.
|
3. Commit to the time, effort & energy it may take to adjust to the visual aids. Low vision devices require effort to make them successful. The key to success is motivation and the ability to adapt. If you are willing to make the commitment, you are on your way to continued independence.
